Violet, Edith & Grace

"An amazing idea - an amazing and beautiful idea...and it's so typical of my Father that he never said anything about this."

Violet, Edith and Grace are keen to share their extraordinary story with Daniel after telling it to Esther. He then tells it to Raymond when he is convalescing.

Raymond's Father's brother, Maurice, had moved away to Birmingham to set up his own business and break away from the family. He and his wife, Ruth, had three daughters, the young ones Violet and Edith and a much older beautiful daughter, Grace. Though their parents were very disorganised and clumsy, Grace was brilliant at everything and ran the house. Her younger sisters adored her because she would tell them stories and play games with them.
