Sandringham House

On the north Norfolk coast, Sandringham House was bought in 1862 for The Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) by 1870 it was rebuilt into a family home. Since then Sandringham has been a popular holiday retreat for successive members of the Royal Family.  Prince John was sent to live on the estate away from the public gaze and near his grandmother Alexandra.

Somerleyton Hall

Splendid Victorian mansion on the Norfolk/Suffolk coast with fie state rooms and lavish architectural ornamentation.  The estate boasts features by Sir Morton Peto and Joseph Paxton.  Filming took place in the house and grounds (for a large garden party scene) in June 2002.  Follow the link to read an article about the filming.
