23/10/2002 No queuing for me to get tickets as last night I went to the Gala Screening of 'Possession' at Lincoln Odeon after winning a newspaper competition.  None of the stars from the film attended but there was a champagne reception beforehand at Lincoln University.  The see the programme from the evening follow the link.

I was not at all disappointed with the film as had been previously speculated and though it differs from the book (drastically in places) I really enjoyed it.  The film was beautifully shot and the attention to small details was astounding.

'Possession' opens nationwide on Friday 25th October.

06/04/2002 Though not necessarily related to the production, the BBC2 programme 'Reading the Decades' (beginning with 1950s) featured AS Byatt commenting on her secret passion for Georgette Heyer novels when at school. Hopefully she will appear in the rest of the series and fingers crossed for a 'Possession' feature in the 1990s episode.

15/11/2001 Empire Online had a report from the London Film Festival where they spoke to Anna Massey:

Among the film's stars present at last night's screening was British actress Anna Massey. Massey will soon be seen in Neil Labute's latest film 'Possession' alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Eckhart and was keen to tell us about it. "I play a vague relation of Gwyneth Patlrow's character. I'm the cripple in a wheelchair. I didn't have much to do in it but I played opposite Aaron and Gwyneth. Aaron is a wonderful actor. As for Neil: In the Company of Men, Your Friends and Neighbours - Wow!"

Massey did reveal that Possession would not be as dark as those early films however. "It's based on the A.S. Byatt novel, so it's not really a Neil Labute script I mean, he's done the adaptation but it's not as dark."
